I started producing Hip Hop music in 1996
My first studio was in a closet. I had two turntables, a Gemini mixer and a Fostex four-track tape recorder. As a teenager in the 90’s I was deeply immersed in Hip Hop culture. In 1994 I moved from my hometown of Seattle, WA to Oakland, CA where I began to learn to DJ. I became obsessed with the new art of Turntablism. After moving back to Seattle in 2001 and formed my first band The Elefaders. We were a Turntablist band. Four dudes each with a turntable and a mixer. In 2005 we traveled to NYC to perform at the 32nd Universal Zulu Nation Anniversary.
I started doing shows almost weekly. I went on tour with my friends Specs Wizard and Tulsi. I joined my friend Silas Blak as his DJ at Cabin Games Records and performed with him at his The Stranger Genius Awards nomination at The Moore Theater. Specs Wizard, Absolute Madman and I started an old-school Hip Hop monthly at Vermillion that ran for 7 years called THE JAM. I deejayed for rap cyphers and b-boy battles at Stop Biting at LoFi. I produced many songs and albums with my crew, many of which you can listen to at my Bandcamp.
What about now?
After almost 30 years of making music with records, samples and drum machines, I became interested in exploring new musical horizons with my productions so I began playing bass guitar and studying rock music production techniques. In 2023 I formed a post-punk band with my brothers Jake, Alex and Aslan. We are called Blue Ghost Mission. We are currently recording an album and playing shows around Seattle.
